"Nowhere has the spirit
of art been more richly alive and varied in its expression than
in the American Indian and his craft. Though survival was a daily
matter, beauty was ever sensed and harmoniously translated ... An
elegant pipe and its intricately beaded bag, Southwest silver and
magic shields, even the sun-baked prehistoric bowl, so fragile yet
so finely adomed--together they create a lively tapestry for our
eyes. -Lisa Danielle Lorimer
