"I know this winter subject
very well from my childhood days on a farm in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Every winter my dad and uncles drove their horses and sleds down
to the lake to cut ice for next summer's use especially, as I remember,
for making homemade ice cream. The custom was also prevalent in
the colder regions of the Western states; I have depicted such a
scene in my painting." -Duane Bryers
