DON SPAULDING
Oil painter of the
post-Civil War U.S. Cavalry, born In Brooklyn, New York in 1926.
"My love affair with the U.S. Cavalry and the American West
really blossomed in 1949 when I saw She Wore a Yellow Ribbon. I
had already been affected by Frederic Remington's paintings, but
it was the movie that turned me into a cavalry buff. I still watch
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon when it shows on television. Now the inaccuracies
in uniforms and equipment amuse me, but I still find the visual
excitement."
